  What is ovulation?

Ovulation is the process when a fully formed egg is released into the fallopian tube to fuse with the sperm and get fertilized. This fertilized egg then develops into a baby.

On whom can it be performed?

It is performed in

  • women with irregular cycles,
  • women with anovulation like polycystic ovary syndrome(PCOS) and
  • women with Unexplained infertility.

 How is it performed?

From day 2- 3 of the menstrual cycle, women are prescribed ovulation-inducing drugs in the form of oral or injectables for about 7-14 days depending upon the response.

Once the follicle attains the desired Size, ovulation is initiated by giving a trigger injection in the form of an injectable (hCG injection) and the couple is explained about the probable fertility window.
